We have been suppressed for long, our voices stifled, our minds toyed with
our hope taken, our lives trifled with. We refuse to keep quiet any longer
We have decided to take this fight upon us. We want the world to know that a revolution is taking place in Nigeria!

Welcome to Nigeria, a country where snake swallows money, the monkey and Gorilla also ate their fill too. A country where when public office holders are called to explain how money was disbursed, fainting becomes the order of the day, they come up with different theatrics and you wonder if this is Nollywood. And later they say we’re the yahoo boys and girls. Let’s not forget rat chased our president out of his office after being away for so long. #endbadgovernanceinNigeria.

A country where the people are battling with poverty, hardship, insecurity, injustice, impunity, extrajudicial murders and police brutality, nepotism and greediness of the political class, high corruption in the civil service. We the youths are tired of police brutality, corrupt leaders, bad roads, dilapidated schools, unstable electricity, unemployment,& insecurity while our leaders live in luxury. #endbadgovernanceinNigeria.

Despite Oppression, Suppression, Intimidation, Institutionalised Poverty, Misinformation, Indigent Education, Psychological & Emotional torture, Abuse, Brutalism disguised as discipline& Murder… WE RISE. #endbadgovernanceinNigeria

Is asking for basic amenities too much to ask?
24hrs Electricity, Better Education System, Political Inclusion at the highest level, Standard Health Care system, Jobs for our “Lazy” youths, Higher minimum wage, better living conditions for citizens of this great nation, Top to bottom re-training, mental evaluation & re-education of military & paramilitary organizations & functions. The #EndSARS protest is a result of failed leadership, extrajudicial killings, and extortion in Nigeria.

End Special Anti-Robbery Squad (End SARS) or #EndSARS is a social movement in Nigeria that started on Twitter calling for banning of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), a unit of the Nigerian Police Force, a controversial division known for police oppression and brutality. The protests started as a social media campaign using the hashtag #ENDSARS
to demand the Nigerian Government to end the deployment of SARS.
SARS engaged in kidnapping, murder, theft, rape, torture, unlawful arrests, humiliation, unlawful detention of innocent citizens whose offence is to use an iPhone, drive luxurious cars, have tattoos, piercings, dreadlocks with long chains.

On Saturday, 3rd October 2020, a video started trending on social media showing a SARS police officer shot a young Nigerian in front of
Wetland Hotel, Ughelli, Delta State. It was alleged that the police officers took away the young man’s vehicle -a Lexus SUV. The trending video caused a public outcry on social media, especially on Twitter, with the #ENDSARS .

On Thursday, 8th October 2020, nation-wide protests on #ENDSARS started after weeks of outcry and anger with videos and pictures showing police
brutality, harassment and extortion. The protests were led predominantly by young Nigerians in different cities alongside many activists and celebrities and have attracted international mainstream media attention. International demonstrations were organized by the Nigerian diaspora in Europe, North America, and elsewhere in Africa.

With the news that SARS had been disbanded, Nigerians took the news with distrust and focused more on their demands. The government has
continued to violently repress protests despite the announcement. Nigeria Police Force disrupted the protests in some cities, throwing teargas and shooting at unarmed peaceful protesters.

The hashtag on social media then changed from #EndSARS to #SARSMustEnd! #ENDSWAT with the forming of a new unit Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) to replace SARS.

On Friday, 16th October 2020, A hacking group called Anonymous hacked the Twitter account of the National Broadcasting Commission and posted a message which stated ‘We Anonymous will continue supporting Nigerians’ in support for the ongoing protests.

We should take this protest to our Governors, Senators, Local government Chairmen, Councillors, House of Representatives’ doorsteps and demand how they have been spending our monies. Burial grounds must vomit these monies, septic tanks must vomit these monies, animals must vomit these monies, foreign accounts must vomit these monies, they must vomit these monies.

Remember, President Buhari laughed when told that the protesters were clamouring for compensation to pay families of the people
who lost their lives.

And I am still wondering why they are communicating with us via tweets. What happened to the protest ground? They can come to the campaign ground to canvass for votes. Don’t even tell me Covid-19 cos the just concluded Ondo election campaign ground was jampacked.
